Wine Country and lots of rain

Oh how I love the country but most of all how I love wine country. So hubbies second cousin’s son, who lives in Margaret River, had his first birthday so we decided to go down for a visit and a mini break for us three.
We left last Friday and had one day of a bit if sun and the rest of the four days we stayed down south it rained and rained and it rained some more. We got tickets to see Eskimo Joe live from my brother in law who had do cancel his trip down south. That was a great kids free night of dancing and very good wine in a cosy pub.

After that night it just did not stop raining, good thing I took my sewing machine and another knitting project that I am working on with down south. Managed to finish the stripy boarder of my quilt and also work on how to add the sleeves into Luke’s knitted cardigan. My husband was going up the walls with boredom and Luke too. But at least hubby got a chance to spend some time with his dad who is battling cancer.

We managed just to go and do some fun stuff the day before we left because the rain eased a bit. We had a great lunch in this small cottage in the middle of the forest and there I had the best date pudding of my life. We also managed to visit the silk farm and the reptile park which were indoors. Also we managed to squeeze in the chocolate factory, which was Luke’s favourite part of the day. Got some amazing cocoa powder there for baking.

We headed back home on Wednesday and brought the awful rain with us back to Perth. We had finally a bit if sun this afternoon, we headed to the park with Ned the dog so we all could soak up the sun for a little while. The rain is back while I write this and according to the weather news it’s here to stay another week!!! Hope u guys enjoy the pictures and hope that where ever you are it’s sunny and warm.

Your first slow dance you never forget!

My little boy is growing up!! Today he had his first dance with a girl. His school had disco night for all the kids from Kindy to year 3. I picked him up from school and on our way to the library he could not stop talking about how exciting the disco would be. He also mentioned Ella a couple of times and asked me if she would dance with him. I explained that I didn’t know but he should ask her to dance and see what happens. So he had a shower, got dressed and off we went to the disco. We got there and he met all his mates, they played for a while and when he got to the dance floor he saw her. In her cute little black and white dress standing near her mom. My son smiled at me and off he went with the courage of a lion. She said YES, and they held hands while my little man walked her to the dance floor. They danced together and got interrupted by an older boy but my son stood his ground and the older boy left. In the end they got parted by a mob of 1st years doing the follow the leader line dance. He looked for her and saw her dancing with one of her friends so he went to find his mates and see if they wanted to get a pizza slice. First Kindy love is strong and quick, i remember it well but I had my heart broken. At least I immortalised the moment forever with a little video that I made and photos. I wonder if it would be wrong to show it in his 18th birthday?

Greetings from Amsterdam!

I love Amsterdam because I have wonderful nostalgic feelings for it. I have great memories from Amsterdam when I was a uni student.

We arrived in Zaandam last friday to stay with good old friends from uni. Our kids love it and have met before last year. Luke enjoyed his stay with his favourite Dutch friends! We arranged for the kids to go to a indoor playground on Sunday and they had a blast, many tears when we left the playground. Zaandam is a great destination for anyone visiting Holland. It is only minutes from Amsterdam with the train. There is loads of things to do and it’s such a beautiful town.

On Monday I arrived in Amsterdam to visit a very good friend of mine that I met in 1998, when I had just arrived in Holland. During the day I just did some touristic stuff with Luke. On Tuesday we spent the day at Artis Amsterdam Zoo. It was just such a great day, the sun was shinning and the weather warmed up a little. It is a great attraction for adults and kids. You also have a planetarium and a aquarium too. Luke loved it!

I went to visit my old professors at Uni and that was such a nostalgic meeting! The Uni has been re-furbished and looks completely different but super modern. It was good to have a chat and catch up!!

After that I took Luke for a boat ride through Amsterdam’s canals. He loved it. We had a bite to eat and past through The Dam Square. We bought some souvenirs and went back to our friends house. The next day we said bye bye to Amsterdam and to our wonderful friends!
