A Quilt for little Alexia!

My brother is having his first baby and its a girl! I am so happy and excited that my little niece is coming to world in September. So as you can imagine I am busy designing Alexia’s baby quilt. I want this one to be extra special and a challenge too.

I got this great book at my local library called ” A Farmers Daughter sampler quilt.” In 1922, The Farmer’s Wife magazine posed this question to their readers: “If you had a daughter of marriageable age, would you, in light of your own experience, have her marry a farmer?” The magazine at that time had 750,000 subscribers, and received over 7,000 letters. The best answers to this question are included in this book, along with the traditional quilt blocks they inspired.

After I decided which blocks to use I stumbled into this great blog  Bee in my Bonnet. And guess what? She is also making this sampler and she has great tutorials on some of the blocks.  So I went ahead and bought some charm backs from MODA and I know I cant wait to start but I still need to wait till these charm packs arrive!!!  You can imagine my anticipation, I have been harrasing my post-girl everyday poor girl. Not only she is scared to death of my dog Ned who can manage to jump the fence and go after her and her motorcycle now she also has do deal with me. So here is a photo of all the blocks in the book. Enjoy
