Greetings from Amsterdam!

I love Amsterdam because I have wonderful nostalgic feelings for it. I have great memories from Amsterdam when I was a uni student.

We arrived in Zaandam last friday to stay with good old friends from uni. Our kids love it and have met before last year. Luke enjoyed his stay with his favourite Dutch friends! We arranged for the kids to go to a indoor playground on Sunday and they had a blast, many tears when we left the playground. Zaandam is a great destination for anyone visiting Holland. It is only minutes from Amsterdam with the train. There is loads of things to do and it’s such a beautiful town.

On Monday I arrived in Amsterdam to visit a very good friend of mine that I met in 1998, when I had just arrived in Holland. During the day I just did some touristic stuff with Luke. On Tuesday we spent the day at Artis Amsterdam Zoo. It was just such a great day, the sun was shinning and the weather warmed up a little. It is a great attraction for adults and kids. You also have a planetarium and a aquarium too. Luke loved it!

I went to visit my old professors at Uni and that was such a nostalgic meeting! The Uni has been re-furbished and looks completely different but super modern. It was good to have a chat and catch up!!

After that I took Luke for a boat ride through Amsterdam’s canals. He loved it. We had a bite to eat and past through The Dam Square. We bought some souvenirs and went back to our friends house. The next day we said bye bye to Amsterdam and to our wonderful friends!

Quilt shop & Chocolate

Although my trip is a bitter sweet trip, I have managed to enjoy it very much. I am really loving to spend time with my baby niece Alexia!!! She is sooo cute!!

I also made some time to go and explore the quilt shops here in The Hague, actually I just managed to go see one Quilts Palet What a little treasure of a shop. Bought this awesome pattern book for a quilt called “Little Amsterdam”, can’t wait to start on it!!

While we were in the shop, Luke started to get upset and wanted to leave, so typical male behaviour. But the little man has been super through out this trip, being stuck inside most of the days with no kids to play is not easy for a 4 year old.

When we left the quilt shop we went past this awesome chocolatier. Luke and I went crazy with all the beautiful Easter chocolate. The detail of these beautiful chocolates blowed my mind!!!

We had lunch at the sushi place with my sister and did some window shopping. Tomorrow we are off to Zaandam for the weekend to spend some time with great friends and Luke can finally enjoy playing with some kids.

Let it Snow, let it snow, let it snow!

We have arrived in the old country and everything is white. It is nice to be back in Holland and see everyone, specially my family. But the cold is just awful my dear readers. I am not used to it anymore and it hurts my bones. But the beauty of a proper winter really makes up for this awful cold.

Luke still has jet leg and is waking up at 4:30am every morning. We have just got back from visiting my father in Apeldoorn for the past three days. I don’t know if I told any of you that my father is terminally ill with cancer. The visit was very emotional for me, this time around. My handsome strong dad is starting to fade, he still looks good but for us close to him we start to see the ugly face of cancer.

Luke is seeing snow for the first time and he loves it!!! He can not have enough of the stuff even when it drenched his mittens and his fingers are numb of cold. He really is helping me to keep this visit light and making me laugh even when I want to scream. Well is all I can share today. Hope u are all well and had a good valentines!!
